Pigeon Forge Winterfest
Can you all believe it is almost time to kickoff all the Winterfest celebrations here in Sevier County?! I feel as though this year has literally flown by. Anyone else feel the same? This is the time of year when you see a bit more kindness, a bit more love and a bit more of a twinkle in the eyes. Sparkling lights, over fifteen million to be exact, light up the cities of Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. As soon as you exit the interstate, the lights are instantly there to remind us all to celebrate the magic of the season! I honestly think the adults enjoy the many lights just as much as any child and ya’ll…that is how it should be! This time of year brings the best out of people and it is a gentle reminder to take a moment and just enjoy your time with your loved ones. It reminds us of those fond memories we each have when we were growing up. Honestly, that is what I love about the Winterfest Season. It simply reminds us all to not be in such a rush all the time and to make some time for ourselves and to enjoy making memories with those closest to us. That is the magic of a Pigeon Forge Winterfest.
Make your Holiday Season even more special by visiting our area during this magical time. Sevierville and Gatlinburg light up their cities too and it is a fun time for the whole family, especially the children. They will love taking in the shimmering lights, festivities and even the parade during the winter season in the Great Smoky Mountains area!
The city of Sevierville will kick off their Winterfest Season on November 6th! As always, the event is free to the public. There will even be free food! You sure can’t get free food just anywhere. There will be a lot of entertainment for adults and children with live music and some dancing. Kids will have a lot of fun meeting Santa, working in his workshop and playing the many carnival games! This fun, family friendly event will be from 3PM to 8PM at the City of Sevierville Municipal Complex and will last through February 28, 2018.
Pigeon Forge Winterfest Kick-off
Pigeon Forge comes alive with twinkling lights at every turn during Pigeon Forge Winterfest with the kick-off happening on November 7th. Cloaked with more than 5 million lights, Pigeon Forge is a winter wonderland. Pigeon Forge Winterfest is the perfect occasion to share special memories with family and friends. One of the best ways to make sure you do not miss any of the incredible light displays is by taking the Winterfest Driving Tour of Lights. You can simply enjoy the sights without worrying about battling traffic. It is an enclosed, warm trolley so you can sit back and set your sights on the sparkling splendor outside the window! You can catch a trolley for this tour over at Patriot Park, by the Old Mill District at traffic light 7. We hope to see you at the Pigeon Forge Winterfest Kick-off this November!
Gatlinburg Winterfest Kick-off
The city of Gatlinburg will be kicking off the Winterfest season on November 8th. Downtown is blocked off with numerous tents that are full of food and entertainment. It is simply a magical time to be in the Smoky Mountains on a vacation. Everyone has a bit more pep in their step and everyone is giddy as they watch all the lights turn on.
The cities of Sevierville and Gatlinburg will both be celebrating the season of Winterfest by doing a holiday parade! Sevierville will be hosting their 55th Annual Christmas Parade on December 2nd from 11AM-1PM. The parade will take place in downtown Sevierville and will a great way to get everyone in the Christmas spirit! Now, Gatlinburg’s Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade will be on December 1st at 7:30PM. This is the 42nd year the city will be hosting this loved holiday tradition. More than 60,000 people line the streets of downtown to watch this award winning parade that features lighted floats, marching bands, horses, enormous balloons and the one and only Santa Claus!
Not only are the cities lit up with lights, but the local shows also put on their seasonal Christmas shows! Hatfield & McCoy, the Smoky Mountain Opry, Comedy Barn, Dixie Stampede and Smoky Mountain Adventures are just a few of the top entertainment shows in town that will be bringing out the tinsel and fond Christmas songs for all to enjoy while on your Pigeon Forge Vacation. I have personally seen all these shows during the Christmas season and I can vouch that you do not want to miss them. If you are worried about the children not wanting to sit through the show, don’t be because there is enough fun and laughter to entertain folks of all ages. Every season is a great time to visit Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains, but the Winterfest Kick-offs are always a special time to be in town with the many festivities going on and such.
