Anakeesta Rail Runner and other Activities

The Anakeesta Rail Runner is officially open! This new single rail coaster is the first of its kind in the United States. The way this rail runner was built allows for the rider to sit lower to the ground which creates an all around incredible experience! This energizing ride has a 400 foot elevation change and goes up to 25 miles per hour. You will encounter 1,600 feet of quick turns and twists as you charge downhill at a quick and exhilarating pace. Once you reach the bottom, you get to enjoy an uphill ride back up to the top. For those of us that need some control while flying down the side of a mountain, you will be happy to know that you control your own speed. You can choose to zip through thrilling ride or slow it down and take in the scenery. The Anakeesta Rail Runner seats themselves are made for comfort and offer headrests and a back. These are made to be a solo ride, but for those with a small child between the ages of 3 and 7, you can ride tandem with the child.

Anakeesta is one of the most beautiful places to visit when you are vacationing in the Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg area! Throughout the seasons of the year, Anakeesta hosts many events whether they are catered toward the children in the summer with daily activities or hosting a bluegrass band in the fall. Not only that, but the Anakeesta Mountain is full of creative and adventurous activities for the whole family to enjoy. Soar through the trees when you sign up for the exhilarating and memorable activity known as ziplining. My favorite thing to do is racing my friends as we zip through the trees on their dueling zipline adventure! The laughs we have are so worth it! As you make your way to the bottom, you will be able to test your bravery on their two challenge stations where you will rappel off platforms. Once you reach the bottom, a chondola will bring you back up to the top to either to it again or enjoy some of their other fun activities.

Anakeesta Gem Mining

I do not care how old you are, the treehouse village playground just calls to you whether you are 5 or 65! This whimsical treehouse playground is full of learning elements, mazes and multiple bridges. The children will be entertained for quite some time. Children can also mine for gems on the Anakeesta Mountain. Gem mining is always a fun family activity. Once you finish mining, be sure to embark on the tree canopy walk. You can really immerse yourself in nature on this casual stroll across sixteen bridges that sit 40 to 60 feet above ground.

Nothing works up an appetite like soaring above the ground, running through a treehouse full of mazes and bridges, mining for some precious gems and exploring the forest via the tree canopy walk. So heed my advice and grab some delicious food at the Cliff Top Grill and Bar or the Smokehouse BBQ food truck. Or if you do not want to play by the rules (like myself) skip straight to dessert and visit Pearl’s Pie in the Sky. Here is something to know about me-I love pie. Pearl’s not only bakes delicious pies, but they make it even more special by making you feel like you walked straight into the 40’s as soon as you walk through the front door. They also serve ice cream, sundaes, milkshakes, danishes and tarts.
